Research trip at V&A Museum

Marie Antoinette Style exhibition

Gift shop

At the end of the research trip, I went to the V&A gift store. I really like this tablecloth, sticker books and their Christmas cards collection. Many of them are uniquely designed yet interactive with visitors. I also saw some souvenirs of the Marie Antoinette exhibition yet they’re not as interactive as others, which is just books or magazines about her legacy and downfall. I want to create something that’s memorable for visitor about this exhibition. Seeing how other souvenirs show their collections or collectable in a special way. I thought about the collages I made, the mix and match feeling  reminds me my childhood toy, paper dolls. Playing with paper dolls was my very first time to engage with the fashion world which led me to be interested in reading fashion magazines and fashion illustrations. So, I got the idea of making this paper doll set for the Marie Antoinette Style exhibition which I can share this personal nostalgia to audiences to enjoy the whimsical world of the Queen’s fashion. Especially, most of the customers in the shop are females, which I believe my outcome would gain their attraction.
